12 Suicidal Teens (十二人の死にたい子どもたち, Juni-nin no shinitai kodomo-tachi  , Literally. “Twelve children wanting to die” ) is athriller Japanese directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi . It is an adaptation of the eponymous Tow Ubukata novel published in 2016. It tells the story of 12 teenage boys and girls who suspect each other of murdering someone.

12 boys and girls gather at an abandoned hospital to die for various different reasons. There, they find the body of a dead boy. The 12 boys and girl attempt to find the person who killed the boy. During their search, the reasons why they want to die are revealed.

12 Suicidal Teens 2019 Movie – Storyline :

The story is a locked-room mystery where 12 teenagers go into an abandoned hospital to give up on life. In the room where they meet, a boy is already lying dead, and no one knows who he is or who killed him. The boy is named “No. 0” by the group, as he was the first one to arrive, and they attempt to find his murderer. During their search, the reasons why they want to die are revealed one by one.

12 Suicidal Teens Full Movie Review:

The ending, for me, was great but could have been better. However, the actors made it convincing enough for me to accept it.

I think the movie was overall beautifully shot although I did feel that they achieved it with struggles. In terms of the pace, it’s slow as it should be (maybe a bit too slow in the beginning but it did add some tension). It also felt a little bit incomplete.

In summary: good points – fair representation of suicidal teens, cinematography, acting not so good points – it’s hard to take the situation seriously if you’re not familiar with this kind of genre of japanese film (this hardly counts as a con) bad points – it’s not the greatest film but it’s on its way to be if they pushed harder (specifically on the ending)
